Donny Douglas is a classic “one album wonder”. His never recorded album from 1991 titled – “I ain’t buying that” contains the best of his songs. There are a larger number of unfinished songs that will probably emerge after his death, assuming anyone cares by then. And that is, a massive assumption.
In 2005, after being inspired by the film “about a boy”, and the money Hugh Grant’s character earned in royalties from his fathers one massive Christmas hit, Donny re-wrote the lyrics the “Kissing her goodbye” and turned it into a Christmas song called “It’s Christmas time (again)”. The bracketed “again” is apparently ironic but some also believe it reflects the cynical hope of earning royalties year after year, again and again.
